Brian and Dava McCowin – Owners
Brian McCowin “grew up in” the water business. He learned about “bad water” from his father as a child and as a teenager, worked in the family business every summer.
After school, Brian left to pursue a career in hotel and restaurant management, where he worked for many years until one day, he decided this was not the career he wanted any longer. He quit his job and set out to find a new career but had no idea what that looked like.
All he knew was that he wanted to work for “an ethical company with an ethical product.” Thinking this would not be so hard to find, he began to search.
For months, Brian looked at different companies and their products, never finding what he was looking for. Then one day, he had an epiphany: McCowin Water, his father’s business!
Ethical company, Ethical product. Brian realized that the company he was looking for was right there in his own backyard! He joined his father in the family business in 1999 and never looked back, working together until John’s passing in 2003.
Today, Brian still holds McCowin Water to the same standards set forth by his father, John McCowin, “Great equipment at a great price!” and backing that up with great service!
Dava has been with McCowin Water since 2008 when she started “helping out” in the office. Dava’s entire career had been in the Health Profession. Specifically, in Dental Office, Medical Office and Health Club Management which she loved very much. In fact, it was in the Dental Office where she worked that she first met Brian.
As McCowin Water continued to grow, it was becoming apparent that there was a need for an Office Administrator – and with all her years of experience in that field, Dava was the logical choice. Although it was a difficult decision to leave a career, a doctor and patients she loved, – she said it felt like “leaving one husband for another” – it was the right choice to make, so she took an early retirement and went full-time for the Company in 2011.
Being in the health field for so many years, Dava already understood the importance of drinking lots of pure, filtered water, so working with Brian to help others toward that goal felt very natural.
Dava still considers herself to be in the “Health Profession,” helping McCowin Water to deliver pure, safe water to families through superior filtration systems, custom-designed for each individual customer.

Our Founder- John McCowin
Feeling like this was an ethics issue, John went to the company executives and told them he felt like he was trying to “put a square peg into a round hole” and that they needed to expand on the types of systems to better serve their customers. When the executives said, “No,” John left the company and McCowin Water was born.
He created relationships with almost all of the major manufacturers for every type of filtration and softening systems, including the one that makes the systems he used to sell, so that now, John could provide the exact piece of equipment to do the exact job it’s supposed to do to get the exact result his customers want.
No more “Square pegs in round holes!”
This is the legacy John McCowin started in 1972. Although he passed away in 2003, John’s legacy lives on through McCowin Water, still family owned and operated, and still helping people to solve their water issues with the correct solution!
