There was one man in Southern California who refused to play the game.
His name was John McCowin, and in 1972, he risked everything to build something most companies still can’t promise:

While other kids played video games or hit the beach, Brian McCowin spent his summers hauling tanks, learning copper angles, and memorizing what hard water does to good homes.
He saw what happens when families were sold overpriced, mismatched systems, and left with no recourse but costly repairs.
He also saw something else: The pride in doing the job right the first time. The moment a customer realized, “Wait… this water actually feels different.”
But like most people with big hearts and sharp minds, Brian had to test the world first. He ran top-tier hotels and restaurants, managed million-dollar facilities, and rose fast in corporate America.
Until he couldn’t lie to himself anymore.
“I was succeeding. But I wasn’t serving. And I couldn’t ignore the voice that said, ‘Go back. Finish what your father started.’”
So in 1999, he came home to McCowin Water, with a vow to make it even better.
Meet the Power Behind the Mission: Brian & Dava
If Brian is the systems master, Dava McCowin is the force of nature keeping everything flowing. Her background? Decades in health, wellness, and high-end patient care.
Dava managed elite dental offices and top-tier health clubs across Orange County; where she became an expert in personalized service, preventative care, and what it really takes to make people feel seen, safe, and supported.
She didn’t enter water filtration by accident. She entered it by calling.
“I realized I could help more people with water than I ever could behind a front desk. It wasn’t a career shift- it was a deeper version of the same mission.”
What started as part-time support in 2008 became a full-time decision in 2011, to leave behind the security of health admin and step fully into a family-run mission for cleaner homes, better health, and real integrity.
Today, Dava runs operations with precision, care, and the highest service standards in the industry, while making sure every McCowin customer feels like they’re part of the family.

Mandy – Office Manager
Mandy joined the McCowin Water Family in early April 2021. Mandy utilizes her previous customer service skills as a commercial insurance agent to help our customers get the best care and service we can offer.
Mandy and her husband Pablo have 5 kids together and live in Foothill Ranch. They like to spend time outdoors – hiking, playing sports, and going to the beach.

Monique – Scheduling Manager
Monique is our newest member of the family. She is originally from LA county and went to Saddleback College where she was on the cheer team.
Monique came to us with about 10 years of customer service experience. She loves cooking and listening to true crime podcasts. She also loves “all things Disney” and spending time with her cat.
Monique says, “I am very happy to be a part of the McCowin Family. I look forward to taking care of our customers and continuing this great Legacy.”

Scot has worked for McCowin Water for many years. Having bought a system himself over 8 years ago, Scot knew that he wanted to be a part of this wonderful industry and started his water journey helping Orange County families solve their water problems once and for all.
Having been a member of south Orange County since 1999, Scot and his family are very active in the community and his two beautiful girls attend public schools here locally.
Scot brings immense passion and experience to the McCowin Team and our clients consistently say they have never come across a "sales guy" quite like him. His no pressure yet no-nonsense approach has made an impact in our community and the lives of others. Clients regularly request to speak only to Scot when booking an appointment.
